We are using the QBcan compact board for our cansat project. When the battery was first connected to the RAW input pin and GND, it was connected without a voltage regulator as I had assumed the board came with an inbuilt one for said pin. However, the board started smoking. The battery was disconnected immediately and having connected the board to a PC, it was detected and powered through the USB port.
Our current problem is similar, and may be related. During testing of long range data transmission between the QBcan compact and the ground station module, the compact was connected to the same 7.4V LiPo battery this time with a voltage regulator and the appropriate capacitors across the battery. After testing the board was disconnected from the battery and connected to PC.It was not detected by the PC and the red LED was on.
Currently the Board cannot be used at a compouter without being connected to an external battey, what would be the reason for this and is there a way to fix this.
We tested the connections of the voltage regulator when it was plugged into the PC using a multimeter, and it showed the correct voltage drops across each of the pins.
We have had problems preiously with our QBcan soft bricking.
